Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis has said that if a move to Las Vegas is approved, then the team will pledge $500 million towards the building of a new stadium. Davis’ comments were reported on Twitter by CSN California Raiders beat writer Scott Blair.

The Raiders currently have a lease to play the 2016 season at O.co Coliseum again, but nothing beyond that. The city of Oakland has given zero indication that it will build a new stadium, and the Raiders also have the option of moving to Los Angeles should their AFC West rival San Diego Chargers opt not to leave their home city.
But Las Vegas could be an interesting option for Oakland. The city has never had a professional sports franchise and while it may be a hard sell for the owners, what with the gambling culture that exists, the fact that the Raiders are so committed to moving and put up a lot of money for a new stadium could bode well for the team’s chances.
