Audio: Listen to how Jaylon Smith became a Dallas Cowboy

The Dallas Cowboys made headlines last night when they used a second-round pick to select Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith, who may miss all of 2016 recovering from a knee injury suffered in the Fiesta Bowl, and our friends at NFL.com were able to get the audio of Smith’s phone call.

Check it out below, and have tissues ready!

It’s clear that Dallas is very excited to have Smith aboard and based on the audio, so is Smith himself. The background audio sounds like him getting emotional on top of his family celebrating in the background.

The emotions are so high that Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli can’t even get mad about Smith not acknowledging him on the phone. All he can do is smile.

Needless to say, if Smith is able to play this season, Dallas’ defense is going to have one heck of a player at linebacker!
