Former Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil made headlines on Day 1 of the NFL Draft after his Twitter was hacked and a video of him smoking marijuana out of a gas mask bong was posted, and New Jersey Governor and former Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie had something to say about it.
Appearing on Boomer & Carton yesterday morning, Christie (who opposes marijuana legalization) got very passionate about the video and said that were he still a federal prosecutor, he would have had Tunsil arrested.
“When I was a prosecutor, I would’ve gone in and cuffed this guy,” Christie said. “I would’ve been all over it.”
Christie then shifted course and expressed sympathy for Tunsil, as someone clearly holds so much ill will towards him that they not only posted that video to his Twitter but also hacked his Instagram, posting screenshots of text messages that prove he accepted money from coaches while at Ole Miss.
Christie’s words aside, however, all that fans, coaches and executives can do at this point is hope that Tunsil stays out of trouble off the field. He is talented enough that he was nearly the first overall pick in the draft before the Tennessee Titans traded the pick to the Los Angeles Rams, so here’s hoping that he can control himself away from the game and stay on the field where the Miami Dolphins need him.
