NFL Draft 2016: Seahawks second-rounder was fixing toilet when he was drafted

On Friday morning, there were reports that Samford University cornerback James Bradberry could be a surprise on Day 2 of the 2016 NFL Draft. However, it seems like he didn’t get the memo.

Late Friday night, the Carolina Panthers called Bradberry’s name at the end of the second round and he wasn’t anywhere near a television for the special moment.

Instead, Bradberry was doing something the common man can relate to, he was fixing his mother’s toilet. Bradberry was honest enough to admit he was not expecting to be selected until Day 3 and that he doesn’t have a future career as a plumber.

“Nah my mom just had me fixing it,” said Bradberry, via the Charlotte Observer. “I don’t really know how to fix things for real, but I try when I can. Bradberry had some friends and family over at his parents’ house but there was no big party. He had planned to do something Saturday night after the draft, and that probably had to do with him being unsure where he’d fall in the draft.”

Later, Bradberry took to Twitter to thank Panthers nation for their early support.

Considering the Panthers lost Josh Norman in the offseason, they have to be thrilled to have a rangy corner with so much upside. And if they ever need an extra set of help at the team facilities, they can give Handyman James a call.
