A night that should have been one of Laremy Tunsil’s best ever quickly turned sour when his Twitter account was hacked. The hacker, whose identity has not been made public, posted a video of Tunsil smoking a bong of marijuana. This occurred just minutes before the Rams were on the clock to select the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.
No to our surprise, this obviously hurt Tunsil’s draft stock. A player who was predicted to be the first pick of the entire event would now fall to 13th, far lower than any analyst could have ever predicted.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the video cost Tunsil a guaranteed spot with the Baltimore Ravens with the No.6 pick, as well as $7 million:
Little cleanup from Thurs night: without video, Ravens would have taken Laremy Tunsil at No. 6; fell to Miami at 13. Lost money: $7 million.

The video obviously did not cause the Miami Dolphins to shy away from Tunsil, and we can expect to see him make a big difference on the team’s offensive line. Granted of course, that he meets the high expectations that have been set for him this draft season, and he is able to stay out of trouble.
