Seahawks sign Trevone Boykin as undrafted free agent

Of all the quarterbacks that were selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was not one of them, as expected. However, he wasn’t on the free agency market long before the Seattle Seahawks scooped him up.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reported that the Seahawks signed Boykin not long after the draft came to a close. It certainly does not look like, however, that the former Horned Frog will play the same position he did in college.

Many teams have been looking at Boykin as a possible receiver in the NFL, so it would come as no surprise if the Seahawks developed him into a pass catcher. They could also use him in trick plays, kind of like a Hines Ward type of player.

During his career at TCU, Trevone Boykin threw for over 10,000 yards and 86 touchdowns. He also rushed for over 2,000 yards and 27 touchdowns, so he certainly has the athletic ability to play anywhere at the next level.
