Houston Mayor predicts ’14-to-21 point’ win over Oklahoma

The Houston Cougars are coming off of a 13-1 season that saw them win the AAC championship and manhandle the Florida State Seminoles in the Peach Bowl. They are looking to build off that impressive run into the 2016 season and they have a big chance to do just that with a premier matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners at NRG Stadium to open next season.

At least one person believes the Cougars will kickoff their season on the right foot.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner spoke with the University of Houston magazine and predicted a “14-to-21 point” victory over the Sooners to open the season.

Sooner Gridiron picked up the story and shared that snippet of the interview on Twitter, making sure the Oklahoma students, fans and players see exactly what Turner had to say.

Of course, reading through Turner’s answer makes me immediately believe that he was making a lighthearted joke about the Sooners not being “stiff competition.” However, I am sure the Sooner nation won’t take too kindly to his comment.

The Sooners and Cougars take the field on September 3. This should be one of the better games to watch on opening weekend.
