Alabama tops Phil Steele’s AP top ten prediction

The college football season is still about four months away, but fans already have a pretty good idea of who the teams to beat will be heading into the festivities. One of the favorites for the 2016 season are the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

ESPN Insider Phil Steele has correctly predicted the top ten of each of the last two AP preseason polls and he decided to give it a go again this year. He decided to challenge himself by listing out the top 11 teams and try to continue his perfection into the 2016 season.

It should come as no surprise that the Crimson Tide tops his list of teams right now, especially since they return safety Eddie Jackson and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen. They also have the top recruiting class for the 2016 season.

Here are Steele’s prediction for the top 11 teams of the AP preseason poll:

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Oklahoma
4. Florida State
5. LSU
6. Ohio State
7. Michigan
8. Baylor
9. Stanford
10. Tennessee
11. Notre Dame

It certainly looks like the SEC could be set to rule the top of the rankings again this year, but rankings do not mean much when it comes to the College Football Playoff. Whatever happens, this season should be exciting and the Alabama Crimson Tide are certainly ready to go after their 17th national championship.
