Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines have been taking the satellite camp craze to a new level, despite plenty of resistance and controversy. Many other conferences, notably the SEC, have not been fond of the camps, but it looks like they’re ready to join in on the fun if it is a trend that’s here to stay.
According to reports, the Alabama football program is set to participate in a camp that takes place in, awkward, Michigan.

SMSB’s Detroit Midwest Regional Academy takes place June 9-10 at Wayne State University.
If Alabama is participating, they will join more than 100 coaches, including representatives from top programs like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame and Kentucky.
“We’re gonna participate on a limited basis,” Saban said, via 247 Sports. “We’re still working on plans, but we’re gonna really focus on continuing to get kids to come to our camps. Our camps here have always been about player development and doing a great job of teaching. I have a great staff here, and I think they’ve been beneficial and we’ve had a great response to our camps here.
“Any player that’s interested in coming to school here has a chance to see what the University of Alabama has to offer. We’re gonna participate on a limited basis in some of those. We’re not allowed to promote on where we’re going, so I’m not gonna comment on that. But we’re gonna continue to focus on trying to get kids to come to the University of Alabama’s camp.”
Alabama has also been linked to Samford’s Mega Prospect Camp next week.
It looks like Nick Saban and company figure they may as well take advantage of the satellite camps while they can.
