Before he ever took the field at Oklahoma, running back Joe Mixon’s career got off to a rough start. Just months before the 2014 season, he was arrested for punching a woman, an incident for which the video has yet to be released to the public.
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that the video is public record and Phil Cross of KOKH-Fox 25 reported that the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters can sue to obtain the video. In February, the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals ruled the video public record, but Cleveland County said that the video would remain sealed from the public eye.

Mixon has already been punished for the incident, being suspended for the 2014 season, for which he took a redshirt, receiving a one-year deferred sentence and 100 hours of community service.
Despite the distractions, Joe Mixon ended up being a big part of the Sooners’ offense last year. He rushed for 753 yards and seven touchdowns, while catching 28 passes for 356 yards and four touchdowns.
While he may not receive further punishment, if the video is released, he will certainly receive widespread criticism from around the country.
