NC State baseball coach Elliott Avent gets revenge on snake that bit him

The NC State baseball team is without head coach Elliott Avent for their series against Louisville this weekend. This is because he is at home with his puppy, Sammi, recovering after being bitten by a copperhead earlier this week.

Both of them seem to be doing pretty well, but Avent wanted to get revenge on the snake. He said that he had wanted to make sure he was doing everything right, so he beat the snake to death with an umbrella and then took it to the hospital.

“I’ve watched too many Western movies, I don’t know, that’s what I thought I was supposed to do,” Avent told The News & Observer. “I brought the snake in a bag into the hospital and they were like, ‘Get that thing out of here.’”

They both seem to be recovering well.

Hopefully Elliott Avent will be back in the dugout for the Wolfpack and Sammi will be chasing squirrels in the backyard again very soon.
