Former top 50 recruit Daniel Giddens transfers to Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program landed a former top 50 recruit on Monday. Former Ohio State Buckeyes center Daniel Giddens announced that he will be taking his talents to Tuscaloosa.

Giddens shared the news on his Twitter account.

“I want to say thank you to Coach Thad Matta and his entire Ohio State University basketball staff from this past year. Thank you for the opportunity that allowed me to participate in your basketball program and to attend such a highly respected academic institution,” Giddens wrote on social media. “After much thought and prayer, I have decided to attend The University of Alabama. RTR.”

Last season, Giddens averaged  3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in limited action.

Giddens will be forced to sit out the 2016-17 college basketball season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, before returning next season with three years of eligibility remaining.
