John Calipari: I plan to coach at Kentucky the rest of my career

John Calipari just delivered a message that Kentucky Wildcats fans are going to love.

On Monday, Calipari, who has had to deny interest in an NBA coaching position for years, took to his official website to comment on his future. In his post, the 60-year-old Calipari said he hopes to finish his coaching career at the University of Kentucky.

My plan is to coach here for the rest of my career,” Calipari wrote. “I want this to be my final coaching position.”

“Kentucky is the gold standard in our sport. It’s been that way throughout the history of our game. It’s one of the reasons I dreamed of one day coaching here. The biggest goal I have — and we all should have — is to make sure Kentucky remains that way.”

Calipari has been with Kentucky since the 2009 season.

During that time, Calipari has led the Wildcats to four Final Four appearances and the 2012 national title. He will look to build on that success as he finishes his career in Lexington.
