Just over a week ago, New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon became the oldest player to hit his first career home run in MLB history. It was a cool piece of baseball history that he will remember forever, but he will also soon have an even cooler recognition.
ESPN’s Adam Rubin reported that the Mets and Guiness World Book of Records will honor Colon with his own place in the book before their game against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
That is an even cooler honor than having your name in the MLB record books.

Since his blast off of San Diego Padres pitcher James Shield on May 7, Bartolo Colon has experienced a pretty cool aftermath. He inspired Noah Syndergaard to be a better ball player, got his own baseball card commemorating the hit, and even had a Mets fan get a tattoo of his face.
His career may be coming to a close in the not-too-distant future, but baseball fans can only hope that Colon’s home run ten days ago is not his last.
