The 2016 NBA Draft is just about a month away and it looks like most of the first round is already shaping up at this point. The Philadelphia 76ers have to choose between Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram and it seems that experts believe they will stick with the former.
Business Insider released their first edition of a NBA mock draft and the 76ers are going with the freshman sensation from LSU. The site reports that two-thirds of draft experts believe the team will stick with Simmons at this point and ESPN’s Chad Ford had an interesting tidbit on the player.
“There will be a lot of debate in the Sixers’ front office on whether to take Simmons or Brandon Ingram. But I think they’ll lean toward Simmons … Philadelphia coach Brett Brown knows him from his days coaching in Australia. Brown desperately needs a playmaker, and new GM Bryan Colangelo wants a player who can contribute right now.”
This would leave the Los Angeles Lakers to take Ingram, the Duke forward, with the second overall pick. For months, many believed that the top two picks would be between these two players and it certainly looks that will happen when the draft rolls around.
Tune in to see if the 76ers will stick with Ben Simmons at the 2016 NBA Draft on June 23 live at 8 p.m. EST on ESPN.
