Whenever you are part of a winning team, you are bound to accrue a ton of hate. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is certainly no stranger to that, which has been evidenced by him being named one of the top five most hated NFL players.
The hate for Brady has grown even stronger over the last year when he was essentially prosecuted for deflating footballs during the 2015 AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts. He was listed as the fifth-most hated player in Sporting News’ list that includes Michael Vick and Ndamukong Suh.
The site’s slideshow says: “Brady could be on a list of most loved players, too, but there are more haters given the controversy surrounding the four-time Super Bowl winner. The ‘Tuck Rule,’ SpyGate and Deflategate have all been part of his career, and he’s facing a four-game suspension for the second straight year heading into the 2016 season. A lot of the Brady hate comes as a result of all those wins, too, but even more comes from the controversies.”
Throughout his career, Tom Brady has led the Patriots to six Super Bowl appearances and has won four of them. He has also been the subject of many controversial events in NFL history and has been labeled a cheater.
In my opinion, most of Brady’s haters are just upset that their favorite team cannot get around him and the Patriots. Yes, there is incriminating evidence all around him, but that still doesn’t mean he belongs at the top of a list that includes an animal abuser and someone who stomps players’ heads for a living.
