Baylor names Jim Grobe interim head coach for 2016 season

The Baylor Bears aren’t set on their next permanent head coach of the football team, but we do know who will take over the team for the time being. It was reported that veteran head coach Jim Grobe will take over as the interim head coach for the 2016 season.

247Sports reported that Baylor AD Ian McCaw is set to announce Grobe as the next head coach in the coming days. The rest of the Baylor staff, including Kendall Briles, is expected to stay intact going forward.

Jim Grobe held a position as head coach for nearly two decades as he spent time with the Ohio Bobcats and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He led the Bobcats to a 33-33-1 in six years, but had his most success with the Demon Deacons.

Grobe was 77-82 with Wake Forest, taking them to five bowl games in his career. He took them to three straight bowl games from 2006-2008 and an ACC championship in 2006 with an Orange Bowl appearance.
