UFC’s Valentina Shevchenko caught in middle of robbery shootout in Peru

UFC women’s bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko, who is set to headline UFC on Fox 20 on July 23 in Chicago against former champion Holly Holm, was caught in the middle of an armed robbery shootout in her Peru.

Shevchenko was in the establishment when a shootout took place, which injured her trainer, Pavel Fedotov, and several other customers.

Peruvian news outlet El Comercio was first to share the news, with video of the robbery which you can see here.

“Three armed robbers allegedly entered the establishment Sunday night, taking 5,000 soles –  about 1,486 U.S. dollars – from the cash register as well as cellphones, wallets and other belongings from the customers. The robbers also assaulted anyone who resisted the robbery, splitting open the heads of three customers,” MMA Fighting reported.

Fedotov was shot in the stomach and is currently recovering in the hospital.

One of the robbers was killed on the scene when Fedotov fired back as the assailants tried to escape. The other two robbers escaped on motorcycle.
