Devin Duvernay’s Baylor NLI invalid, free to sign elsewhere

The Baylor Bears have lost a number of players for the upcoming season and they are likely going to lose the one with the most potential. Top 2016 recruit, wide receiver Devin Duvernay, will be able to sign with another team going into the 2016 season.

Duvernay was reportedly going to ask for a release from his National Letter of Intent with the Bears. However, ESPN reported that the letter was deemed invalid and he is now free to sign anywhere he likes to begin his collegiate career.

Duvernay’s father, Henry, was trying to file his son’s release request when he noticed an error. Because the letter was not filed to the conference office within the 14 required days, the letter was deemed invalid.

“She said Devin is not in the system,” he said. “She had her people verify that, and he is free to go.”

Devin Duvernay is the third-ranked wide receiver in the country and was Baylor’s top recruit in the 2016 class. He will now be able to help another team out going into the 2016 season.

Will he and his twin brother, Donovan, who also just requested a release from Baylor, link up and go to a new school together?
