D3 football player facing charges for drive-by shooting

A D3 football player is facing is currently facing charges stemming from a drive-by shooting that took place over the weekend, according to a report from from The Town Talk.

Louisiana College wide receiver Farron Jones and another man,  Justin Babin, allegedly fired shots from their vehicle at a house in Alexandria, Louisiana. Shortly after the incident, the two men were pulled over.

“Jones was charged with assault by drive-by shooting and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Babin was charged with illegal possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute,” the report read.

Last season, Jones recorded nine catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Entering 2016, Jones was an honorable mention preseason D3 All-American. However, he has been suspended from the football team as a result of the recent charges.

“Farron has been suspended from the football team — pending the outcome of the investigation,” Louisiana College coach Dennis Dunn told the site. “The college has also taken appropriate disciplinary action.”

Jones currently remains in jail with no bond.
