Nearly a year ago, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul’s life changed forever when he nearly blew his hand off in a terrible fireworks accident on the Fourth of July. Now, he is doing something so he can keep others from making the same mistake.
The defensive end said he would be elsewhere this year on July 4 and will make sure he is not somewhere they celebrate using fireworks.
Before that, however, Pierre-Paul wants to help others as Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reported he will be doing several public service announcements to remind children to be safe with fireworks this year.
He has been doing all he can to help warn people about the dangers of fireworks ever since his terrible accident last year.
“As for fireworks, they’re very dangerous. You shouldn’t play with them,” Jason Pierre-Paul said during his first interview following the incident.
If there is anyone that should play a role in helping people be safe around fireworks, it is certainly Pierre-Paul.
