The Cleveland Browns have come close to finalizing deals with their 2016 NFL Draft class, after agreeing to deals with quarterback Cody Kessler and kicker Patrick Murray on Thursday.
Kessler signed his rookie contract on Thursday, becoming the 12th player to do so and leaving Carl Nassib and Joe Schobert as the only draft picks without contracts. He is one of five quarterbacks on the roster, joining Josh McCown, Robert Griffin III, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw.
Jackson has yet to announce the team’s starting quarterback, but Griffin appears to be in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 job after taking a majority of the first-team reps during OTAs. However, anything is possible over the next few months.
