The nation’s top recruit from the Class of 2016, defensive lineman Rashan Gary, is set to move into his new home on the University of Michigan campus next week. Once he sets foot in Ann Arbor, the promising Michigan Wolverines freshman is looking to make an immediate impact by hitting the weight room.
While speaking to Nick Baumgardner of MLive, Gary revealed he is attempting to add 18-pounds of muscle.
“Right now I’m 290, 6-foot-5, and when I get there they said they want to put 18 pounds of muscle on me,” Gary said. “You’ll see me change, my body will be different and I can’t wait to see it.”
Gary, the latest Paramus Catholic High School standout to take the pipeline from New Jersey to Michigan, also mentioned he will be moving along the defensive line.
While he was recruited as a defensive tackle, the Wolverines freshman will begin his career at defensive end.
When I get there I’m going to start out at defensive end and then maybe I’ll be able to move around,” Gary said. “But I’ve got to learn the game first.”
Michigan has a very talented player on their hands, so it’s great to see they are focused on making him the best he can be so he can live up to his potential and help the Wolverines reach the next level.
