Prior to Conor McGregor’s shocking loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 earlier this year, there were rumors that the Irish superstar would have been slated to face welterweight champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 200 with a win.
However, Diaz submitted McGregor and put an end to those plans.
But what would have happened if McGregor would have come away with the win? Lawler believes he would have delivered a devastating and dominant performance.
During a recent media tour to promote his main event matchup at UFC 201 against Tyron Woodley in Atlanta, Lawler was asked how a hypothetical bout with McGregor would have played out.
With his answer, “Ruthless” certainly lived up to his nickname.
“I wasn’t too worried about it. Obviously that was a big fight. He’s a big draw but it wouldn’t have been good for him,” Lawler said in an interview with WSB-TV. “Cause if I hurt him, I wasn’t taking his neck,” Lawler said.
Lawler was then asked what he would have taken if it wasn’t McGregor’s neck.
Lacking any emotion, Lawler simply answered, “His soul.”
“I’m a lot different than most people and he found a way out,” Lawler said. “Diaz took his neck and was nice to him. I’m just telling it like it is and how I saw it.”
Dang, Robbie. Tell us how you really feel.

After seeing the way McGregor was rocked on his feet before being submitted, it’s safe to say the welterweight champion very well could have delivered an even more devastating finish that the featherweight title holder experienced.
For the sake of McGregor, let’s hope the two never cross paths in the Octagon.
