Just one round after the Los Angeles Angels allowed former player Torii Hunter to announce the team had selected his son, Notre Dame wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr., the Seattle Mariners also made a tribute pick by selected Arizona wideout Trey Griffey, the son of Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr.
Trey Griffey was selected by his father and grandfather’s former team in the 24th round, which many believe is a tribute to the No. 24 Griffey Jr. wore during his playing days.

While it is a great gesture, don’t expect to see Trey Griffey suit up for the Mariners anytime soon.
Griffey appears committed to the Wildcats football program and does not have any immediate intentions to try his hand at baseball.
The MLB Draft may be excruciatingly long, but it’s cool to see some of these moments taking place.
