It looks like there has been some discussion on possibly bringing back head coach Art Briles following the 2016 season, with the Baylor board of regents holding a vote on Monday.
It was reported by KWTX that a preliminary vote by the regents to suspend Briles for one year rather than completely cutting ties was “very close.”
“I would hope that Baylor Nation would trust and respect what that group of men and women are doing in their deliberations they are the only group that has all of the facts and has the ability to debate every nuance of those very complicated issues,” Former Board of Regents Chairman Dary Stone said on Monday.
The Bears are currently moving forward with interim head coach Jim Grobe.
Whether the board decides to reinstate Briles after a one-year suspension remains to be seen, but it would be a move that would be met with plenty of public criticism after it was found Briles and other assistants turned a blind eye to sexual assault allegations against current and former players.
Baylor reinstating Briles would show just how tone deaf they are to the public perception and opinion.
