Orlando City stopping match at 49th minute to honor shooting victims

The city of Orlando is still feeling the affects of the terrible shooting that left 49 victims dead last weekend. The city has been brought closer than ever before and the Orlando City SC will honor the victims this weekend.

The Lions take on the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday and during the 49th minute, the match will pause so the team can honor those victims. It will certainly be a special moment for everyone involved at the match.

In addition to the stoppage in play, the team will sell #OrlandoUnited shirts with proceeds benefiting the OneOrlando Fund. They will also auction off game-worn jerseys with proceeds also going to the fund.

“Our city has endured dark moments in the past couple of days following two horrific acts of violence, and we are looking forward to using the influence of our sports team to bring some positivity into people’s lives,” said Founder and President Phil Rawlins. “We are in the midst of tirelessly working to create a memorable gameday experience to honor the memories of our brothers and sisters on Saturday.”

It will certainly be a special and emotional moment Saturday afternoon.
