The Alabama Crimson Tide are looking to get after their second straight national championship this year and it will likely fall on the shoulders of the defense. However, they will be losing veteran defensive back Maurice Smith to transfer.
It was reported Matt Zenitz of AL.com that Smith will be seeking a transfer for his final season of eligibility. He has played three years for the Crimson Tide and he will be able to play immediately as he will be a graduate transfer.

Last year, Maurice Smith played in all 15 games for the Crimson Tide, but did so in a minimal role. He only recorded 15 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.
He only made two starts in 41 games through his career with the Crimson Tide. However, he was the top candidate to win the starting role at the nickel back position this year.
