North Carolina AD to respond to NCAA charges in July

The University of North Carolina has long been dealing with an academic fraud scandal. Finally, the university’s athletic department is set to respond to the ongoing investigation.

The scandal has featured five cases of the NCAA citing lack of institutional control.

North Carolina has a July deadline to meet in order to respond to the NCAA’s charges, and university athletic director Bubba Cunningham has made it clear the school will meet the deadline placed in front of them.

“I think we have positive momentum going,” Cunningham said, via ESPN.com. “I think we have more confidence. I think our campus community has healed and is continuing to heal. I think there’s also some anxiety about what the future holds, but I don’t think it’s nearly as acute as it was 24 or 48 months ago.”

Despite the lingering academic scandal, the main Tar Heels athletics programs have had incredible success. So, as long as the NCAA doesn’t deliver any serious punishment, UNC should be just fine.
