Tulsa DB J.R. Reed transferring to Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs dismissed a defensive back earlier this week and it looks like they will get a replacement at the position in the near future. Former Tulsa safety J.R. Reed will be making a transfer to Athens to continue his career.

It was reported by Dawgs247 that Reed will be taking his talents to Athens after deciding to transfer from Tulsa just a few weeks ago. However, he won’t be eligible to play this year due to NCAA transfer rules, but would have three years of eligibility left starting 2017.

Reed played in 13 games during his true freshman season with the Golden Hurricane and only recorded five tackles and a pass deflection. However, he was looking to be a big piece for the team this year as he was a co-starter exiting spring training.

J.R. Reed was a three-star member of the Hurricane’s 2014 recruiting class and is the cousin of Deangelo Gibbs, a 2017 recruit who has already committed to Georgia.
