Most people who choose to show their college fandom at home do so with memorabilia inside or a flag hanging from the porch. However, one couple from Iowa City is ready to go above and beyond for one of the most impressive tributes to a sports team you will ever see.
The couple, Reed and Sandy Carlson, is working to build a 7,476-square foot house that resembles Kinnick Stadium, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
There has been some opposition from neighbors saying that it violates the atmosphere of the neighborhood, but Reed is attempting to calm any concerns his neighbors may have.
“The idea that just because it looks like Kinnick Stadium it’s going to be a party house or whatnot is a misnomer,” Reed Carlson told the Press-Citizen. “Like I said to the city attorney in University Heights: ‘It’s a residential neighborhood. It’s zoned residential. You aren’t going to issue me a liquor license, so why are you concerned about what the house looks like?'”
You can catch a look at the plan below:
While it may be a bit over the top, the Kinnick Stadium replica house will surely be appreciated by the Hawkeyes community.
