Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback C.J. Beathard is receiving plenty of hype entering the 2016 college football season, with his latest praise coming from offensive coordinator Greg Davis.
While battling a number of injuries last season, Beathard was still able to lead the Hawkeyes to an undefeated regular season.
Now, with the injuries hopefully behind him and the quarterback looking forward to a healthy season, Davis delivered some very strong praise saying Beathard could be the best he’s ever coached.
“I think he has a chance to be the best I’ve ever coached,” Davis said Wednesday on KxNO’s Hawk Central program. “He’s got a wonderful feel for the game. We give him a lot of flexibility. He’s fixing to get a lot more flexibility because we feel like he’s ready to handle that and do a lot more at the line of scrimmage.”
Davis is familiar with talented quarterbacks, having coached the likes of Vince Young and Colt McCoy at Texas.
So for the offensive quarter to deliver that kind of comment towards his current signal-caller says a lot. Perhaps it’s time that the entire football world begins paying attention to the Iowa program as they look to continue their reign as a national contender.
