To say that the play at the U.S. Open a few weeks ago was pretty awful would be an understatement. However, J.B. Holmes found out just how tough the rough is at Firestone Country Club during the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio on Saturday.
He was lining up a his third shot out of the rough at the par five second hole with an 8 iron. However, it didn’t go too well for him as he fully swung his club back only to see the ball trickle forward by about seven yards, still in the rough.
The cabbage at Firestone is no joke. https://t.co/hp7NXBGV19

Now, I am no spring chicken when it comes to the golf course, but I would say that is not how you want your shot to ever go. This probably explains why J.B. Holmes was +6 at the time and was +7 at the end of Saturday’s third round.
