On Wednesday, Las Vegas sportsbook Bovada released a number of odds for the 2016 college football season. The Big 12 odds were released and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the defending champions, Oklahoma, top the list.
The Sooners currently lead the odds and it would be a surprise if it changed much at all going into the season.
Right now, they are -150 favorites to repeat as champions of the conference with Oklahoma State and TCU being the next closest at +800 odds. The Sooners also have +800 odds to win the national championship, just behind Alabama at +700.
The Sooners have not won the national title since the 2000 season when they defeated the Florida State Seminoles 13-2 in the 2001 Orange Bowl. As for the conference title, it would be the first time they have won back-to-back titles since winning three straight from 2006 to 2008.
It would also be their tenth conference title under Bob Stoops, who took over the Oklahoma program in 1999. The Sooners open the 2016 season on Sept. 3 when they face off against Houston at NRG Stadium.
