Michael Bisping’s first title defense could soon be set in stone.
After plenty of speculation regarding a potential matchup with mixed martial arts legend Dan Henderson, reports surfaced over the weekend that a rematch with Henderson is indeed the targeted bout by UFC officials.
There is no official word on when the bout could take place, but the plans are for later this year with Manchester being a possible host.
“We’re going to do Dan Henderson versus Michael Bisping,” White said at the UFC 200 post-fight press conference. “It’s a fight that the champ wants, it’s a fight that the fans want, and hopefully Manchester. I’m thinking about doing it in Manchester, England. It’s not actually signed yet.”
Henderson is in the twilight of his career, so going off with a UFC championship victory would be the perfect ending to his career.
Of course, Bisping is fighting as well as he ever has in his career and he has the added motivation of avenging his devastating knockout loss from UFC 100, so we should expect to see an exciting fight when the two men finally throw down.
