2017 No. 1 overall prospect Trey Smith releases top six

One of the country’s top football programs will be landing a terrific prospect in the near future as top-ranked 2017 prospect Trey Smith seems to be very close to making his decision. On Sunday, dropped his top six and it looks like someone will be very happy soon.

Smith was competing at The Opening in Oregon on Sunday when he said he was going to select from six of the country’s programs soon. Those six programs included Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and Tennessee.

“My dad is a businessman, so he had a spreadsheet for me to narrow it down,” he said. “We put in boxes with a scale of 1 to 10 with things like a good offensive line coach, a good relationship with the coaches, opportunity to prepare me for the NFL and opportunity to play. We just had our list end evaluations of each school, and whoever was the top six on the list was my top six.”

Despite him already naming his top six schools, he talked about how he already has a clear No. 1 on his list.

“Another school came close, but there was a clear No. 1,” he said. “It was quite shocking because that was one of my top schools, so it was interesting.”

Trey Smith said he will be taking all five of his official visits during the season and he will have a final decision by mid-December, before Christmas.
