Sunday night, the Fertitta brothers made history when they sold UFC for a record $4 billion. But while there is a change in ownership, president Dana White will remain with the company and actually will have a bigger role.
White spoke with KLAS in Las Vegas on Monday and said that he would be doing a lot more with the company under the new ownership with WME-IMG. He talked about how he will have to pick up the slack for Lorenzo Fertitta not being there to run things on a daily basis.
“I’m stepping forward, I’m not stepping back,” White told KLAS in Las Vegas on Monday. “With Lorenzo leaving, it’s a lot more work for me. Lorenzo and I used to divide and conquer. With him gone, I’m going to have to pick up a lot of the stuff he used to do.”
WME-IMG seem to be ready to help the UFC grow even more than they have in the last decade and it will be interesting to see what happens how that happens.
They released a statement saying they are excited for the future.
“It’s been exciting to watch the organization’s incredible growth over the last decade under the leadership of the Fertitta brothers, Dana White and their dedicated team. We’re now committed to pursuing new opportunities for UFC and its talented athletes to ensure the sport’s continued growth and success on a global scale,” the statement read.
Dana White promised that this is only going to be good for the UFC and that the new owners will only help grow the company and bolster their already impressive roster.
