Kirby Smart predicts Nick Chubb will play in opener

The Georgia Bulldogs have been a snake-bitten program when it comes to the health of their running backs. Nick Chubb had his 2015 campaign ended with a serious knee injury last year and earlier this summer Sony Michel suffered a broken arm in an ATV accident that required surgery.

During SEC Media Days, Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart spoke with the media and shared his belief that Chubb should be healthy in time for the Georgia opener against North Carolina in Atlanta.

For Michel, however, his status remains in the air.

As long as one of the running backs are healthy, the Bulldogs rushing attack should be in good shape.

But if Georgia can use a running back by committee backfield and get Chubb and Michel both healthy, the Bulldogs could be ready to run wild on the rest of the SEC. Let’s just hope the running backs can stay healthy throughout the season.
