Tragedy struck the Mississippi State Bulldogs Friday night when it was reported that former wide receiver Chris Smith was shot and killed.
The horrific event happened Friday night in his hometown of Meridian, police reported.
From WTOK: “Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose confirms that Chris Smith was shot and killed at Frank Berry Courts on 8th St. Friday night. Authorities say they are investigating the cause of the shooting and searching for a suspect.”
A number of Smith’s former teammates took to Twitter to express their grief.

Chris Smith played for the Bulldogs from 2009-2012 and was a big part of their offense during that time. He recorded 1,180 yards and five touchdowns in his career.
