Tee Martin has worked with the USC Trojans since 2012 and has been a member of Clay Helton’s offensive staff since 2013. It looks like the team’s new head coach has a ton of confidence in what he will be able to do into the future.
Helton was hired from his interim position with the Trojans near the end of the 2015 season after he led them to a 5-4 record and a spot in the PAC-12 Championship Game. He named Martin, previously the team’s passing game coordinator, the offensive coordinator and on Saturday he spoke with ESPN and said that the coach has a ton of potential.
“In my 21 years, he’s the most complete coach I’ve been around,” Helton said on Saturday.
The head coach even went on to call Martin “the next Mike Tomlin,” comparing him to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coach who worked as an assistant for 12 years before landing the job in the NFL.
That is certainly big praise for Tee Martin as Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the NFL today. In nine seasons, he has led the Steelers to a 92-52 record with four AFC North division titles, six playoff appearances, two AFC championships and a Super Bowl championship in 2008.
