With Big Ten Media Days taking place this week in Chicago, the Big Ten Network decided to unveil its rankings for the top 100 football players in the conference.
As you would expect, a majority of the players on the list came from the Michigan State Spartans and Ohio State Buckeyes. However, it is Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines that have the most players ranked in the top ten.
But while Harbaugh and the Wolverines have the most representation in the top 10, it is the Buckeyes who get to claim the top player in the conference, according to the network.
When the final votes were tallied, it was Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett that earned the top spot.
“He will be looking to recapture his 2014 form, when he was the top signal-caller in the Big Ten as a redshirt freshman. Barrett is a deadly combination of athletic ability and savvy who is the perfect fit for this offense. And he’s a great leader,” the network stated.
Rounding out the top five was Iowa’s Desmond King, Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers, Malik McDowell of Michigan State and Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis.
