Report: 2017 NFL Draft to be held in Philadelphia

The NFL has been trying to nail down a host city for the 2017 NFL Draft. According to reports from NJ.com‘s Matt Lombardo, the league is set to announce the draft will be held in Philadelphia in the coming weeks.

Lombardo states an official announcement could be coming either Tuesday August 2 or Tuesday 8.

Currently, NFL officials are working on finalizing a deal and the logistics of hosting the three-day event in the City of Brotherly Love. But considering Philadelphia is hosting the Democratic National Convention this week, the city has proven they can host a major event.

The past two NFL Drafts have been held in Chicago, after decades in New York City.

And while the 2017 draft seems poised to be held in Philadelphia, who won’t have a first-round pick after trading for Carson Wentz this year, the league is still focusing on a permanent home which could be Los Angeles as soon as 2018 when the Rams receive a new stadium.
