It didn’t take much time for a long list of potential suitors to line up for the services of former Florida Gators quarterback Treon Harris, who announced earlier this week that he would be transferring from the program.
According to Ryan Bartow of 247 Sports, a number of schools have already reached out to Harris’ family.
Per Bartow, Southern Miss, Texas State and Georgia State have all contacted Harris’ family. In addition, Minnesota, Kansas, SMU, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, East Carolina, Coastal Carolina and Mercer all have interest.
The hope if for Harris to find a new home by August.
Last season, Harris threw for 1,676 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions. He was set to make the move to wide receiver for the Gators this season.
It will be interesting to see what position Harris ultimately ends up playing at his new school and when he will be eligible to suit up.
If Harris transfers to the FCS level, he can play immediately. If Harris transfers to another FBS program, he will be forced to sit out one season before finishing out his final two years of eligibility.
