SMU to the Big 12? Dallas mayor makes the case

Who will be joining the Big 12? There has been plenty of conversation surrounding the potential suitors for the conference as it discusses expansion, but Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has one specific school in mind.

Rawlings took to social media on Monday morning to make his case for the SMU Mustangs joining the Big 12.

He made his case in a lengthy Facebook post that cited the university’s geography, academic standing and the strong Dallas market it could bring to an already Texas-rich market.

Will Rawlings get his way when it comes to expansion? Only time will tell, but it would certainly be an interesting fit for SMU. We can see why the school would want to join a Power 5 conference, but ultimately the decision will come down to who the Big 12 thinks will bring a greater financial impact.
