Tyrann Mathieu signs 5-year extension worth $12 million per year

The Arizona Cardinals have one of the best secondary looks in the entire NFL and they are looking to lock that up for the next few years. Tyrann Mathieu is a part of their success and he will be well into the future.

NFL Media senior analyst Ian Rapoport reported that the Cardinals had signed Mathieu to a five-year extension worth $62.5 million and $40 million of it being guaranteed.

It will lock him up through at least the 2022 season.

Just minutes before the news came down, Honey Badger took to Twitter and had one short thing to say and it was likely in response to his huge contract.

Tyrann Mathieu had a huge year for the Cardinals last year, even after missing the last two games of the season and the postseason. He recorded five interceptions with a touchdown, 80 tackles and 17 pass deflections.

I think it is safe to say he is worth this money.
