BYU adds Colby Leifson to Class of 2016

The BYU basketball program received a late addition to its Class of 2016 on Wednesday.

Colby Leifson, a 6-foot-4 guard from North Gwinnett High School near Atlanta, announced his commitment to the Cougars on Twitter. Leifson, who emerged on the AAU circuit this summer, also had offers from Wofford, High Point, Tennessee Tech and Gardner Webb.

Initially, Leifson was expected to head to Brazil for a mission trip.

Instead, he will be deferring his mission until after the 2016-17 basketball season with the Cougars.

Leifson may not be an immediate star at the collegiate level, but he will provide the Cougars with another shooting threat from the outside. And in today’s game, the ability to stroke from behind the arc certainly comes in handy.
