UPDATE: UFC officials confirmed Cris Cyborg vs. Lina Lansberg will take place at UFC Fight Night 95 on Thursday afternoon.
One of the most feared women in mixed martial arts could be returning to the Octagon very soon. On Wednesday, Brazilian news outlet UOL reported the Ultimate Fighting Championship is targeting a bout between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Lina Akhtar Lansberg for an upcoming event.
According to the reports, Cyborg vs. Lansberg would serve as the main event for UFC Fight Night 95 on Sept. 24 at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil.
UFC officials have yet to comment on the rumored bout.
Cyborg (16-1) is the current Invicta FC featherweight champion. However, she has been putting her title defenses on hold for a share of the UFC spotlight. At UFC 198 earlier this year, Cyborg made a successful UFC debut by stopping Leslie Smith in 81 seconds.
Lansberg (6-1) would be making her UFC debut riding a six-fight win streak.
In addition to Cyborg vs. Lansberg, UOL reported a bout between former bantamweight champion Renan Barao and Phillipe Nover will be added to the card.
