The USC Trojans might not have many problems going into the 2016 season, but their biggest question mark is at starting quarterback.
While we don’t know who the starter will be, we now know when head coach Clay Helton will decide between Max Browne and Sam Darnold for the No. 1 job.
According to ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura, Helton announced he would choose his starting quarterback on Aug. 20 following their Salute to Troy event on Thursday. This would give either of the two players roughly two weeks to prepare for the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 3.
“Today, both of them played well,” Helton said. “I thought that they made good decisions. Just like it was in the spring, both are playing at a very high level.”
Whoever takes over the starting role will have big shoes to fill for Cody Kessler, a three-year starter who amassed over 10,000 yards and 88 touchdowns. But either signal-caller seems capable, so it should be fun to watch the Trojans go into the 2016 season.
