As the 2016 NFL season draws near, everyone knows that Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman will be going head-to-head with rival wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at least twice. He will also have a big sports media outlet to speak his mind if he so chooses.
It was reported by Emily Kaplan of MMQB.com that Norman has signed a one-year deal with FOX to be a part of the network’s NFL coverage. He will make a minimum of 10 appearances that will be a mixture of live hits, pre-taped segments and an in-studio role during Washington’s bye week.
“I haven’t told Coach [Jay] Gruden or [defensive coordinator Joe] Barry yet, but I’ll give them a nice shout out on TV,” Norman said. “It’s not at all going to be a distraction. If you keep your focus on you and not anybody else, you’re going to be fine. I’m going to be me on Sunday.”
To see a player working in the media during their active season is rare, but certainly nothing new. New York Jets receiver Brandon Marshall has been a member of “Inside the NFL” on Showtime for the last few years.
It will certainly be interesting to see what Norman has to say if he and Beckham or any other player get into a war of words at some point this year.
