The LSU Tigers might have gotten four-star defensive tackle Travonte Valentine back on the field Monday, but they may have lost one of their better defensive linemen. Christian LaCouture went down with what appears to be a major knee injury during the team’s training camp practice.
LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed to The New Orleans Times-Picayune that both LaCouture and redshirt freshman defensive end Isaiah Washington went down with unspecified injuries.
It is unclear the severity of either injury, but it is believed that the senior could have injured his ACL.
LaCouture was at one point going to declare for the NFL Draft following the 2015 season, but decided to return for his final season of eligibility. He has been a big piece for the Tigers the last few years and is expected to be one again this year.
In three seasons, Christian LaCouture has recorded 79 tackles, eight for loss, and five sacks. Fans will have to wait and see if he will be on the field for the team when LSU takes on Wisconsin at Lambeau Field on Sept. 3.
